Today Diamonds Class learned all about the Hindu celebration of Diwali. We found out that it is known as the festival of light and that people celebrating Diwali would start the festival by cleaning the house together. Then they would decorate outside their front doors with rangoli patterns made from coloured sand or petals. They would also light diva lamps in the evenings to guide their gods home and bring light into the darkness.
In class, we used lots of different fine motor activities to explore ways to make our own Rangoli Patterns and Diva Lamps.
